Regardless of their size, you can’t consider the qiiuntaty of material in that way when it comes to clothes. You’re paying for something that you believe looks good or is brand name or suits the weather and fits to your comfort. As a skinny person, I do know where you’re coming from. If you’re good at sewing like my girlfriend, you’ll buy the XL shirts, and change it to a new outfit. This only really benefits you if you’re buying larger sizes for making more clothes hahaReferences :

Thanks Beatriz, this is the kinda discussions I want to get started so well done! And yes, if you are traveling with 2 suitcases then splitting things up is great advice. I challenge you though to only bring one bag :P

Clothes weigh plenty! I sturggle to keep my suitcase within the 40 lb or 50 lb limit when I’m going on a 2-3 week trip.And if you want to know what your luggage weighs, weigh it! Different suitcases have different weights because of varying construction techniques and materials.I’d recommend mixing casual and business attire in your 2 cases; that way, if one gets lost, you still have both kinds of clothing in the one you do have.Since you’re going long-term, you may want to look into the cost of sending a parcel of belongings to your destination via UPS or a similar carrier.

This is sort of like my disposable clothes trick! I’ll leave home with some old clothes at their end of life and throw them out and buy new clothes for the rest of the trip. Going to see a band? Buy a t shirt for the flight home. No reason to carry a clean t shirt home. A variation on this is to mail your dirty clothes home as you replace them with new clothes. Both work great! It keeps my pack light when I’m jogging to make a layover, and I always have a fresh change of clothes. If I’m dumping clothes, it also helps clean those old socks or huge stack of freebie shirts out my closet.
